T heI nternationalC onference "U niversity,C ity,R egion:P erspectives ofI nteraction" will take place inG rodno (B elarus) onS eptember 11 – 13, 2008.
T he conference suggests the discussion of a wide range of problems concerning the phenomenon and image of a university city, the role of a university in the historical, cultural and social development of a city and in the formation of its intellectual traditions, the specificity of the university subculture, the peculiarities of university functioning in the regional context, the interaction between universities and university cities as a factor of regional cooperation.
P roposed topic areas for presentations:
•U niversity city: status and image;
•U niversity in the space of city history and culture;
•U niversity education as a social capital of a city and a region;
•U niversity in the structure of city and region: issues of co-operation.
T he conference will include onS eptember 12, 2008 an international seminar "EXPERIENCE OF THE WEST AND EAST IN CREATING AND DEVELOPING SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY PARKS " which will focus on the problems and perspectives of developing the science and technology parks of theR epublic ofB elarus taking into account the experience of theEU countries and theP eople’sR epublic ofC hina.
